- | jigsaw puzzle. Unlike other jigsaw puzzles
- | in PsL that only split the screen into small
- | rectangles, this one offers a choice of
- | several shapes, such as stars, circles in
- | rectangles, elipses, and more. Any BMP
- | graphic file can be used for a puzzle. The
- | program will give hints if you get stuck,
- | and can also animate the solution for you. A
- | colorful Bart Simpson puzzle is provided. VB
- | source code is included.
- WINJIG.ZIP 117929 12-06-93 WinJig 0.9 (Tosa, Y.; $1) is a fun jigsaw
- | puzzle game for Windows. It allows you to
- | use any .BMP image as the subject for the
- | puzzle, and you can select various sizes for
- | each puzzle. A check feature shows all
- | incorrectly placed pieces inverted to help
- | you solve the puzzle. Other features include
- | WIN31 sound support, several sample graphic
- | files, and more.
- WINSAW.ZIP 183779 09-23-93 WinSaw (LeVitt, Richard; $0) is a Windows
- | jigsaw puzzle. You can load any Windows BMP
- | image file from disk and the program
- | converts it into a random set of tiles which
- | you can select and drag into position to
- | recreate the original picture. Only the
- | Windows BMP file format is supported but
- | other formats such as PCX and GIF can be
- | converted into BMP files with programs like
- | Paint Shop. VGA and VBRUN300 required.
- GUYS.EXE 66260 07-22-92 Guys! (I.V.S. Entertainment Software; $12)
- | you must lead the "guys" through a hazardous
- | maze to the central exit. Unfortunately, the
- | guys are pretty stupid, and can only follow
- | directional arrows located on the paths in
- | the maze. You must change the direction of
- | the arrows to point toward the exit. Any
- | guys that leave the beaten path die. Guys
- | that run into each other mutate and start
- | changing arrows randomly. Quick mouse
- | reflexes and a lot of practice are required
- | to win at this game.
- INVMAZW.EXE 74621 11-30-92 Invisible Maze (R & R Enterprise; $10)
- | creates invisible mazes. Walls only become
- | visible after you run into them. Your score
- | is based on getting out of the maze in the
- | fewest possible moves.
- LIL1.EXE 341165 05-20-93 Lost in a Labyrinth 1.0 (AddSoft; $20) is a
- | spectacular three dimensional maze for
- | Windows. It uses beautiful ray-traced images
- | to give you an accurate eyelevel perspective
- | from within the maze. The caption of the
- | window shows the direction in which you are
- | traveling to help you keep your bearings.
- | Amusing statements pop up when you bump into
- | walls. Requires 256-color VGA display, a
- | hard disk, and VBRUN200.

- | is an incredible 3-D maze game. You must
- | escape multiple levels of twisting mazes,
- | looking for gems and keys. An automapping
- | function helps you see where you have been.
- | There are locked doors, secret doors, ropes
- | to climb, ladders to descend, and much more.
- | 29 mazes are included, ranging from simple
- | to extremely difficult.
- MAZE_MAS.ZIP 154704 12-06-93 Maze Master 1.01 (The Flatirons Group ASP;
- | $12-$15) is a maze generating game for
- | Windows. It can produce simple mazes
- | suitable for young children to monster
- | puzzles with invisible walls for adults.
- | Solving the puzzle is achieved by dragging
- | the mouse-shaped cursor through the maze
- | from the entrance on the left to the exit on
- | the right. If you get stuck, the computer
- | can solve the maze for you. Other features
- | include bonus scoring, high score hall of
- | fame, maze printing, WAV sound support, and
- | more.
- MAZMAKR.EXE 81143 04-22-93 MazeMaker 2.01 (Custom Real-Time Software,
- | Inc. ASP; $15) is a multi-floor maze game.
- | Each day the program challenges you with the
- | "Maze of the Day" which is like a house with
- | 4-6 floors and about 2000 rooms. You have to
- | find your way through from beginning to end
- | which is done by jumping between floors. You
- | can choose the easy mazes which only have
- | two floors. If you can do it you are allowed
- | to attempt more difficult mazes up to the
- | ultimate "Maze of the Year!"
- MAZNMAZ.EXE 15262 11-18-91 MazinMaze 1.0 (Jendrek, J. P.; $10) will
- | generate and let you solve mazes of varying
- | sizes and difficulty. In EASY mode you are
- | shown all walls and passageways, but in the
- | TOUGH mode walls are invisible and show up
- | only when you bump into them. For people
- | will lots of time to kill there is an
- | IMPOSSIBLE level where the wall are
- | invisible and only a beep lets you know when
- | you hit them. VBRUN is required. (The author
- | can no longer be reached at the address
- | provided in the documentation.)
- MINEHLP.EXE 19111 05-19-93 MineHelp (Karrer, Peter; $0) assists you
- | with the Minesweeper game included in
- | Windows 3.1. It is able to solve the simple
- | parts of the puzzle, leaving only the really
- | challenging ones to you.
- MYNES.ZIP 98994 12-06-93 Mynes (Freed, John; $5) is a variation of
- | the Minesweeper game included with Windows
- | 3.1. The major difference is that you can
- | give yourself up to five lives, so that a
- | careless slip doesn't blow 20 minutes of
- | work. VGA is required.
- WINWAY.EXE 23307 12-04-92 WinWayOut (Tarody, Thomas; $15) is a 3-D
- | maze game that you have to fight your way
- | out of. As you are searching for the exit,
- | you will come across swords. These are
- | needed for slaying the giant spiders that
- | sometime jump out at you. This is a
- | challenging game for maze lovers.
- BOXWRLD.EXE 36765 04-22-92 BoxWorld (Jiang, Jeng Long; $5) is an
- | excellent arcade strategy game. You must
- | guide the animated figure around a maze,
- | pushing boxes to cover up gems that are
- | randomly scattered about. The first few
- | levels are fairly easy, but if you're not
- | careful you can box yourself into a corner
- | with no escape.
- KYE.EXE 36702 05-20-92 Kye 2.0 (Garbutt, Colin; $various) is an
- | exceptional maze/strategy game. You must get
- | through each level without getting stuck or
- | eaten by beasts. There are numerous types of
- | objects to get around. You will have to
- | start each level over many times as you
- | experiment to see how an object reacts when
- | pushed. Other features include an on-screen
- | maze editor, mouse control, black holes,
- | one-way doors, time bombs, and more. This is
- | a very challenging game with lots of
- | interesting twists.

- | contains several challenging mazes for the
- | popular game KYE.
- SOKOBAN.EXE 32552 08-19-92 Sokoban for Windows 2.2.5 (Liss, Allan B.;
- | $0) The object of this game to push crates
- | scattered about a maze-like warehouse onto
- | the loading dock in the least amount of
- | moves. It is very easy to push yourself into
- | a corner, but levels can be restarted and
- | games can be saved. There are 50
- | brain-punishing levels.

- | block-pushing type of puzzle, but with a
- | twist you have to push blocks around to trap
- | the creatures before the creatures get you!
- MSQUARE.ZIP 51509 09-23-93 Magic Squares 1.0.3 (Randy A. Harris ASP;
- | $5) contains three sizes of sliding block
- | puzzles and an intriguing math puzzle for
- | WIN31.
- PUZZLE_8.ZIP 15739 06-23-93 Puzzle_8 (Pocket-Sized Software; $5) is a
- | sliding puzzle game.
- SLIDE.ZIP 29830 09-23-93 Picture Slide Puzzle (Interactive Media
- | Design; $5) lets you import any BMP file
- | into a siding puzzle. You can custom design
- | how may squares across the puzzle will be
- | and the size of the squares. Requires
- | VBRUN300.
- STELLPUZ.EXE 198807 08-12-91 Stelly's Puzzle Potpourri (James W. Stelly;
- | $15) is a collection of three classic
- | sliding tile puzzles. Interesting background
- | information is provided for each puzzle, and
- | on-line help is readily available.
- ARROWS.EXE 9736 04-16-92 Arrows (Doc Software; $5) is a seemingly
- | simple, but challenging puzzle. You must
- | rotate arrows to get five in a row, but when
- | you turn an arrow, it forces the arrow it is
- | pointing at to rotate 90 degrees. Things
- | don't always turn out the way you plan...
- | VBRUN is required.
- BLAKBOX.EXE 23146 12-11-92 Black Box 1.0 (Vince the Mince; $0) you must
- | identify the locations of hidden atomic
- | particles on a grid. Clues are obtained by
- | injecting rays into the grid and observing
- | their exit point. This is a great test of
- | logic.
- CBREAKR.COM 20536 06-20-91 Code Breaker 1.01a (Fogel, Kenneth and
- | Haden, Charles W.; $0) you must guess the
- | same sequence of numbers that your computer
- | generates from the clues it gives you.
- CC.ZIP 47848 07-27-93 ColorCodes 4.1 (George Montgomery; $10) is a
- | Mastermind game.
- CUBIC.COM 37859 06-06-91 Cubic 1.0 (Chappell, Geoffrey; $10-$15) is a
- | well done 3D game of Rubic's Cube. It has a
- | self-solving feature, and you can change the
- | view of the puzzle at any time. This is the
- | closest to the real thing of any
- | Rubic's-type program we've seen.
- DOT.ZIP 12502 08-12-93 Dot (James Shields; $8) is a deceptively
- | simple little slide-the-pieces puzzle where
- | you try to move the bulls-eye inside the
- | circle. This is much harder than it looks.

- HIQ_WIN.EXE 9905 01-22-92 Hi-Q (Ratsch, Wolfgang; $10-$15) is a logic
- | game in which you must remove pegs from the
- | playing board by jumping over them. Your
- | score is determined by how many pegs you
- | were unable to remove. VBRUN is required.
- LOGIGR.ZIP 9339 06-09-93 Logigram (Mavabe; $10) is unusual puzzle
- | game.
- LUCAS.COM 37484 02-06-91 Lucas's Puzzle 2.1 (Curran, James M.; $5) is
- | a puzzle that seems impossible at first, but
- | which can be solved. As a bonus, digitized
- | sound effects can be heard through your
- | computer's internal speaker or Covox's Voice
- | Master or Sound Master. You have an option
- | to demo a winning game.
- MISER.COM 11514 09-12-90 Miser Mind 1.0 (M & M Productions; $5) is a
- | take-off on the board game of MasterMind.
- MRMIND.COM 20396 08-30-90 MasterMind 1.1 (Curran, James M.; $?) is a
- | Windows 3 version of the well-known game of
- | logic and deduction. This is an excellent
- | game with lots of options and nice colors.
- NAMEGM.ZIP 46422 07-16-93 Name of the Game 1.0 (TOGGLE BOOLEANS; $0)
- | is a series of increasingly difficult card
- | puzzles.
- SOLUS.EXE 24845 07-09-92 Solus 1.5 (Vergos, Yorgo; $10) is an IQ type
- | game where you try to move all the pieces by
- | jumping them over each other.
- TAKEONE.ZIP 27699 07-31-93 TakeOne 1.03 (Board Games; Jimmy Kavanaugh;
- | 5 Pounds IR) is an interesting variation of
- | peg solitaire. The object is to remove all
- | the markers but one from the board by
- | jumping over other markers either
- | horizontally or vertically. You can play a
- | standard game starting with only one free
- | square, or design your own patterns. Other
- | features include Dead Balls which must be
- | captured with the final move, Watch Balls
- | that cannot be moved until there are only
- | two markers left, instant replay of games at
- | three different speeds, and more.
- TEETIME.ZIP 168855 10-15-93 Tee Time 1.2 (MerryWare; $20) is an
- | interesting puzzle game. The object of the
- | game is to clear all the blocks on a 10x10
- | playing grid. The target blocks do not fall
- | but appear in a window for placement, and
- | can be rotated and reversed. The playing
- | grid is divided into four 5x5 quadrants by
- | two mirrors, one vertical and one
- | horizontal. A row or column clears when it
- | can be divided into two halves that are
- | "negative mirrors" of each other. This is a
- | very challenging game.
- TOBOR.EXE 42654 12-03-92 Tobor (Lonsky, Nicholas; $5) is a puzzle
- | game in which you must try to move in such a
- | way as to get the Tobor's to run into each
- | other, destroying themselves, before they
- | get to you. (The author can no longer be
- | reached at the address provided in the
- | documentation.)
- TRIO.ZIP 17825 08-24-93 Trio 1.0 (Torensoft Consulting; $10) is an
- | interesting puzzle game for Windows. The
- | game consists of 81 cards with different
- | colored shapes. To form a Trio and remove
- | cards, you must select three cards where
- | each of the attributes (quantity, shape,
- | color/shading) are all the same or all
- | different. You'll definitely have to put on
- | your thinking cap for this one! Requires
- | VBRUN200.
- WTHECUBE.ZIP 111268 12-06-93 The Cube 1.0 (KillTime Software; $15) is a
- | rotating cube puzzle. Skill levels range
- | from Beginner to Master. Requires VGA and a
- | mouse.

- | is a crossword puzzle game where the clues
- | refer to numbers rather than words.
